How to use the product:

  1. SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE: as we haven’t used a solubilizer, the essential oil will not mix with the water; hence, we have a 2-phase tonic. It is important that you shake it well before use to ensure that it will be evenly distributed.

  2. After cleaning your face, you might use it on a cotton pad or spray it onto your face.

  3. You can use it throughout the day to refresh your skin.

FAQs + tips and tricks:

  • Where can I buy the ingredients?

For the ingredients, I recommend the following websites: https://naissance.com/, https://www.primaveralife.com/ and https://www.cremas-caseras.es/.

  • Glossary:

HYDROSOL: Also called hydrolate, flower water or herbal distillate is a water-based product made from the distillation of plant material.
ASTRINGENT – an agent that contracts and tones skin tissues.
INCI – International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients. This is a universal, worldwide system of formal names for cosmetic ingredients and it’s based on the Latin or scientific name. An important reason for using this INCI name is that there may be several different trade names in use for an ingredient. By using INCI name, you can be 100% sure of the actual ingredient that you use.

  • Can I replace or leave out any of the ingredients?

Of course, there is still a lot of room for you to be creative with the ingredients you have. I’d advise you to keep the proportions as they are. This is especially important with vitamin B3, essential oils, and natural preservatives. If you use this toner daily, you can use max. 3% w/w* vitamin B3. The maximum concentration of essential oils should not exceed 1% w/w*. This also applies to a preservative.

    • You can replace lavender essential oil with: rosemary essential oil, helichrysum essential oil,  neroli essential oil..

    • You can prepare your toner without essential oils.

    • If you decide not to use a preservative, remember that you can use the toner for max. 2-3 weeks.

  • Which essential oils should I use and why?

Essential oils give a product a wonderful natural fragrance and have many benefits for your skin.

    • You can replace lavender essential oil (EO) with: grapefruit EO, rosemary EO, etc. however, don’t exceed 1% w/w* of the whole formulation, meaning, don’t add more than 1g per 100g of the final product in order to avoid skin sensitization.

    • Be careful when using citrus essential oils (grapefruit, bergamot, lemon, lime), since they are photosensitive - meaning they may cause oversensitivity of skin to light. If you have very sensitive skin, you may avoid the essential oils - don’t worry, hydrosols already have a beautiful scent.

    • If you have a sensitive skin, please omit the use of the essential oil since it might cause unwanted reactions.

  • Is the product vegan?

    Yes.

  • How long does it last?

If you use the preservative, it can last 6 months. If you decide not to use a preservative, keep in mind that you can use the toner for max. 2-3 weeks.
